After finishing my filming in Kobe, I returned to Takamatsu City. Filming ended early in the morning around 4am, and I was unsure whether to take the Shinkansen flight that departs at 6am, or take the jumbo ferry that sails from Kobe Port at 8:15am.
When I checked the reserved seats were filled with the Shinkansen reservation app "EX", which can be used even late at night, I found that "reservations are not possible." When I searched for why reservations were not possible online, they said, "If there are a large number of passengers, reservations are not possible." The first Shinkansen train will likely be used by business customers.
So, although the departure time is 8:15am, I checked the reservation status for the Jumbo Ferry, where you can return to Takamatsu City while sleeping. Then, perhaps because it was Friday, the unreserved seats were full. At 8:15, the ferry departing from Kobe Port is a newly built ship Aoi.
The new Ferry Aoi comes with a variety of seating options, and you can reserve an available seat for an additional fee. I took a photo all night, so I wanted to move around while sleeping, so I paid an extra 3,000 yen to reserve a loft seat with only two remaining seats! Even if the additional fee is added, it is a little cheaper than the Shinkansen, so I thought it would be more reasonable to lie down on the ferry and arrive in Takamatsu City when I woke up, rather than heading to Okayama Station while standing on the Shinkansen without getting enough sleep, and then boarded the jumbo ferry.
The next video will be released on weekdays as it will take some time to generate HDR videos. Stay tuned!
