Dawn greeted in a quiet car on a winter's early morning
This videoaround 6:50 AM on February 17, 2024was filmed
Just as the train crossed the Seto Ohashi Bridge, the eastern sky began to brighten, and the sun appeared over the horizon of the Seto Inland Sea.
The Sunrise Seto (Izumo) is Japan's only regularly scheduled sleeper express train connecting Tokyo and Takamatsu (Izumo).
Departing Tokyo in the middle of the night and heading to Shikoku in the early morning, this train is not only a means of transportation but also an experience that allows you to feel the very transition from night to morning.
Limited seasons and conditions for viewing the sunrise over the Seto Inland Sea
from a train crossing the Seto Ohashi BridgeOnly during a very limited time of year can you witness the sunrise over the Seto Inland Sea.
Specifically,it's around February and October. It's a fleeting moment that only occurs when the angle of the rising sun and the train's travel time coincide.
Furthermore, on this day,
- I was able to get a spacious seat on the second floor on the left side of the train.
- There were no clouds in the direction of the rising sun
These conditions all came together.
If even one of them had been missing, we wouldn't have been able to see this view.
The view from the comfortable seats and the atmosphere inside the car
The seat I photographed wasa reclining seat on the second floor.
It was in a position where I could lie down and look out the window at almost eye level.
It was early in the morning in winter, so it was cold outside and the air was clear, and the pre-dawn sky slowly changed color from deep blue to pale orange.
The surface of the Seto Inland Sea was calm, with no strong waves, and it was impressive to see the silhouettes of the islands quietly emerging into the sky.
A record of travel, including the sounds of trains
to record the audio a TASCAM DR-07X I used
It captures the sounds of the train crossing the bridge, the vibrations as it passes over the rail joints, and even the occasional announcements from the conductor.
Additionally, the video includes slight rustling sounds of clothing and movement from when I shifted my position during filming. I
deliberately chose not to remove these sounds, in order to preserve the feeling of being present at the scene.

that is not publicly available on YouTubea limited-access video.
I'm posting it here because I wanted to share the atmosphere of that day with only those who read my blog.
The scenery that appears for just a few minutes during the journey.
that moment not as "time until reaching the destination," but as a unique experience.
I hope this will be a record that captures
