I introduced new photography equipment. - Searching for the ideal tripod that allows me to take photos independently while walking -

The Magsafe tripod attached to the DJI Pocket 3. Filming Diary
The Magsafe tripod attached to the DJI Pocket 3.

I primarily a DJI OSMO POCKET 3 for filming on my YouTube channel, "Setouchi Ambience." I hold the camera in my right hand and an umbrella in my left. In the rain, I walk around Japanese gardens, temples, and shrines in this style, recording the sounds of the rain.

However, there are moments during a shoot when I suddenly think, "I want to capture this composition in a still image." For example, the deer scarer I found at the "Kiri no.

A deer scare photographed at Kiri no Mori, a roadside station in Ehime Prefecture.
This deer scare was filmed at Kiri no Mori, a roadside station in Ehime Prefecture. It appears in the video, but there is some camera shake.

However, even when I tried to keep the OSMO POCKET 3 in my right hand as still as possible while filming, slight hand tremorslater. I would think, "That's a shame..." every time I edited the video.

There is a scene in the video where a deer scare is filmed, but there is a slight camera shake.

While filming videos, both my hands are occupied with an umbrella and a camera, so Ia tripod that I could quickly set up on its own without using my hands. I decided to look for one on Amazon.

Among the various options I compared, the KraftGeek JustTap Tripod (MagSafe compatible). This tripod has a unique mechanism where the legs automatically open simply by lightly tapping the button on the bottom against the ground.

It felt like the perfect fit for my style of "quickly placing it down while walking and taking pictures." What's more, it's MagSafe compatible, so the fact that you can secure the device with a magnet was also appealing.

However, what made me hesitate to purchase this tripod was that it was originally designed specifically for smartphones.

If it had a 1/4" screw, I could easily attach the DJI OSMO POCKET 3 and use it, but this tripod does not have a model with a 1/4" screw. The lineup is limited to two types: a "clip type" for securing a smartphone and a "MagSafe type."

The DJI OSMO POCKET 3 does not have the MagSafe function, so this tripod alone cannot achieve my goals.

I thought to myself, "It probably doesn't make sense to attach a smartphone to this tripod and then attach the DJI OSMO POCKET 3 to it..." and continued to search for review videos of this product on YouTube and for alternatives on Amazon again.

After considering several options, I foundthe K&F Concept Magnetic Mount Base for Osmo Pocket 3.This is a part that attaches to the OSMO POCKET 3, allowing it to magnetically connect to MagSafe-compatible accessories.

However, the "arrangement of magnets" in MagSafe varies slightly depending on the product. If the magnetic poles are not aligned correctly, the connection will not only not work, but will be unstable. In other words, there is a "compatibility issue."

Nevertheless, after reading reviews and comparing several products, I ultimatelyK&F Concept mounting basedecided to purchase

The results exceeded my expectations.the KraftGeek JustTap Tripod and the K&F Concept magnetic mount baseconnected so securely, it was as if they were original parts.

When I put the two together, they fit perfectly together.

It stays firmly in place even with a little force applied. With the OSMO POCKET 3 attached, a light tap on the button at the bottom of the tripod causes the legs to pop open, allowing it to stand on its own. This means that even while walking, you can capture a moment you want to freeze, without having to use both hands, andstable footageyou are.

*Please note that there will be a noise when the legs open. If it is quiet during shooting, this sound may be picked up by the microphone.

I haven't actually used this new equipment yet, but it looks like it will be a very encouraging item that will eliminate the slight frustration of camera shake that I've had up until now.

In the future, I would like to use this tripod to more carefully capture the beauty of sound and scenery in still compositions, such as the sound of rain in a Japanese garden or the sound of a deer scare in a foggy forest.

that when it comes to photography equipment, "expensive doesn't necessarily mean good";is whether it suits your own shooting style. By creating a system that can be easily set up even while walking, as in this case, stress during shooting is reduced, and the range of expression expands.

Please look forward to my upcoming videos to see what changes the new equipment will bring to my footage.
