In May 2025, the Setouchi region seems to have more rainy days than usual.
As of May 14th, when this article is being written,it has rained at least once every week.

For me, someone who films videos with the sounds of rain and rainy scenery as themes, this is truly a "blessing of rain."
As a filmmaker, I spend each week thinking about how to make the most of the perfect timing that nature has provided.

Currently, the latest video on my YouTube channel is 4k ASMR | Rainy Japanese Garden Walk with Birds & Flowers | Red Torii Tunnel & Bamboo | Nakatsu Banshoen Rainy Japanese Garden , and judging from the reactions since its release, it has been very well received.

What I've realized again isthat the theme of "a Japanese garden in the rain" resonates strongly with overseas viewers as well.

The sounds of birds, the trees glistening with rain, the hushed grounds—
many people seem to be drawn to this "other side" of the Japanese garden, so different from what they see on sunny days.

Therefore, the next location I'm considering for filmingRitsurin Garden, a representative Japanese garden in Kagawa Prefecture.

which I regularly refer to Windy.com , there is a possibility of fairly heavy rain in the Setouchi region this weekend, on May 17th.

The amount of rain was so heavy that it could be considered a nightmare for photographers, but from the perspective of sound and scenery, it also made for very attractive conditions

One of the biggest attractions of Ritsurin Gardenit opens at 5:30 a.m. in Mayis that

Like me,

  • Low-traffic times
  • An environment with little vehicle noise
  • I want to carefully pick up the sounds of rain and nature

This is the perfect combination for this style of photography

Furthermore, this time it was Saturday morning.
Compared to weekdays, there are fewer commuter vehicles, andthe traffic noise on Chuo-dori, which faces the park, is also reduced, so I think it's the perfect time to record a "quiet Ritsurin Garden."

I've photographed Ritsurin Garden many times before.
Yet, every time I visit, I feel like there are still "expressions I haven't captured yet."

In the future,

  • A long video consisting entirely of Ritsurin Garden
  • A series that records changes in the seasons and weather

In this way, I would like to dig deeper

I've also compiled all the videos I've taken of Ritsurin Garden so far at the bottom of this article, so
please feel free to take a look at the past footage as well.

This was the most popular video I released in 2025. Ritsurin Garden in heavy rain

Windy.com is forecasting heavy rain, so all we can do nowhope that it rains as predicted.

Photographing nature never goes exactly as planned.
Nevertheless, the time I spend holding my camera while sensing the approach of rain is always special, no matter how many times I experience it.

Please look forward to the next new video
