この映像は、2024年2月17日の早朝6時50分ごろ、寝台特急「サンライズ瀬戸」に乗車中に撮影したものです。
車窓に映っているのは、瀬戸大橋を渡る列車の車内から見た瀬戸内海の夜明け。
この日の出の景色は、1年のうちでも2月と10月の限られた時期にしか見ることができません。
列車の座席は「ノビノビ座席」。進行方向左側の2階席で、運よく東の空が開けた状態で予約できたこと、さらに晴天で太陽の昇る方向に雲がかからなかったことなど、いくつもの条件が重なってこの映像が実現しました。
録音にはTASCAM DR-07Xを使用しており、列車の走行音や車掌さんの案内放送なども記録しています。
ところどころで、僕自身が体勢を変えた際に生じたわずかな物音も含まれています。
撮影時は非常に寒く、空気が澄んでいて、夜明け前のグラデーションも美しく映っていました。

Sunrise from the Seto Bridge – A View from the Overnight Express
This limited-release video was filmed on the Sunrise Seto, Japan’s only remaining overnight sleeper train, during its early morning crossing of the Seto Ohashi Bridge on February 17, 2024.
Captured from a second-floor “Nobi Nobi” seat, the view shows the sun rising over the Seto Inland Sea — a moment that can only be seen a few days in February and October each year, when the timing, seat orientation, and weather conditions all align.
You’ll hear the quiet ambient sounds of the train, occasional announcements from the conductor, and subtle personal movements recorded by a sensitive TASCAM microphone.
Cold winter air, clear skies, and the rare chance to see the sunrise from a moving sleeper train — this video offers a calm and uniquely Japanese experience.
